I have endometrial cancer and have undergone radiotherapy. Now there is pelvic metastasis and I am undergoing chemotherapy. Can I use compound immunotherapy?
Xu Kecheng:
I am not a gynecologist, but there are cases that move me. In 2009, Shenzhen University held an "Innovative Cancer Treatment Discussion Meeting" with the theme of cancer compound immunotherapy. Academician Wang Zhenyi came from Shanghai to attend. The host of the meeting was Academician Ni Jiazan, Dean of the School of Life Sciences of Shenzhen University. In early 2008, one day, an old man came to my office and said as soon as we met: "I am an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Please help me. We really have no other way." It turned out that his wife, also a professor, had uterine cancer and received dozens of chemotherapy in Shanghai. The academician complained: "Professor Xu, do you know what hell on earth is? Chemotherapy is it." A few days later, the academician's wife came to our hospital. At that time, she was exhausted, emaciated, had severe abdominal pain, vomited frequently, and could not eat. CT scans revealed that the patient had cancer metastases in the pelvic cavity, abdominal cavity, liver, lungs, neck, and axillary lymph nodes. The patient received total parenteral nutrition, and after her general condition improved, she returned to her home in Shenzhen. I asked Dr. Lei, a student who was working in Shenzhen at the time, to go to her home every week to inject her with a compound immune agent. In this way, she got better day by day, and the aforementioned meeting of the academician was held. Two years later, Academician Ni sent me a message: "My wife is gone, thank you very much." I called him and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't save her." He said, "My wife had so many cancer metastases. She would have left us a long time ago, but you gave her an extra life without pain. This is amazing. ”

Academician Ni Jiazan attended the Fudan University International Cancer Symposium and talked about the concept of anti-cancer based on his wife's treatment experience. In the left picture, the 1st on the right is Academician Tang Zhaoyou, and the 2nd on the right is Academician Ni Jiazan

Academician Ni Jiazan speaks
Li Dinggang:
Academician Ni is right. We treat cancer not for immortality, but to gain "extra pain-free life". Cancer cells are the product of normal cell mutations. In a sense, we cannot kill all cancer cells. "Coexisting with cancer" is the new normal of life. Professor Xu made this clear in "Coexisting with Cancer" published in 2016.
