Chapter 4: About Cholangiocarcinoma

      Member:

Is there any effect on cholangiocarcinoma? Several members of our Cancer Rehabilitation Association suffered from cholangiocarcinoma and died in less than 3 years.

      Xu Kecheng:

Isn't my cancer cholangiocarcinoma? My family seems to have a genetic tendency to bile duct cancer. My mother had liver cancer more than 50 years ago and died 2 and a half months later. In early November 2012, I suddenly received a call from my student, Professor Ni Runzhou, then director of the Department of Gastroenterology of the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, saying that my sister had liver cancer and was in the late stage. I immediately took her to our hospital in Guangzhou, and the examination found that she had multiple tumors in the liver. The biopsy proved that it was cholangiocarcinoma. She is my older sister, 5 years younger than me, with bronchiectasis and emphysema, and poor lung function. After giving her "comfort" cryoablation, she went home. I asked her to receive combined immunotherapy. In the following months, multiple ultrasound and CT scans revealed that the liver tumor gradually shrank until "it was difficult to see the lesion clearly" (local hospital report). Because she had cancer, our whole family took extra care of her, allowing her to happily enjoy the joy of family love for a full five years.
