01 Trending Douyin Search in the Clinic: After being sentenced to death, he stood up thanks to this new treatment
"Professor Xu, my tumor has really shrunk!"
When I saw this Douyin video, the comments section was already flooded with "tears" and "requests for solutions." In the video, 67-year-old colon cancer patient Uncle Zhang clutched his follow-up report, his hands still trembling slightly. Three months ago, he was rejected by multiple hospitals due to multiple metastases throughout his body. Ascites made it impossible for him to even lie flat. That's when he found Professor Xu Kecheng of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital.
In the video, Professor Xu, wearing reading glasses, reviewed the imaging report line by line. His fingertips traced over the words "Lesions reduced by 40% after TTV treatment," and he whispered, "You see, the immune system has been activated. Cancer cells are afraid of this." The video garnered 3 million views in two days, and the comment section was filled with thousands of desperate messages: "My mother is also in the late stage. Is there still a chance?" "What exactly is TTV therapy?"
02 TTV Therapy: Awakening the Body's "Anti-Cancer Force"
The TTV therapy, about which patients are asking, is a novel immunotherapy technology introduced by Professor Xu Kecheng's team, a type of "invisible scalpel" for cancer treatment.
Unlike chemotherapy, which destroys everything, TTV therapy, based on Academician Wang Zhenyi's theory of immune cell diversity, precisely activates the "recognition switches" on the surface of human immune cells—Toll-like receptors (TLRs). Like a "radar" for the immune system, activated NK cells and dendritic cells actively hunt cancer cells while secreting anti-cancer munitions like interferon and interleukin, disrupting tumor defenses at the genetic level.
Even more encouraging is the clinical data: In a study at Wuxi People's Hospital, 68 patients with advanced disease who had failed conventional treatment and received TTV achieved a 48.5% survival rate after three years of follow-up, with virtually no serious adverse reactions. Professor Xu explained in a Douyin livestream: "It doesn't kill cancer cells directly, but rather awakens your own cancer-fighting forces. This is the long-term solution."
03 From "Cancer Patient" to "Savior": Xu Kecheng's Dual Commitment
Adding reassurance to patients, the doctor promoting TTV therapy is himself a cancer survivor.
In 2006, Xu Kecheng was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a malignant tumor with a 5-year survival rate of only 5%. After undergoing liver lobectomy, he wrote by his bedside: "It must be my own immune system that eliminates the last cancer cell." This experience in the fight against cancer strengthened his resolve to explore immunotherapy, ultimately incorporating TTV therapy into Fudan University's "3C+P" personalized treatment system.
In another frequently shared Douyin video, Professor Xu makes ward rounds with a drainage tube, bending over to adjust a patient's IV. "I've performed five major surgeries, and I know how difficult it is to lie here," he says through his mask. "Whether it's TTV or cryotherapy, only treatment that keeps the patient alive is a good treatment." This compassionate heart has earned him the "Bai Qiu'en Medal" and the honor of "Role Model of Our Times."
04 More Miracles of Life: Clinical Practice of TTV Therapy
Stories like this happen every day in Professor Xu's clinic:
• Aunt Li, a 72-year-old lung cancer patient, developed brain metastases after developing resistance to targeted drugs. After six months of TTV combination therapy, her brain lesions had essentially disappeared at follow-up, and she is now able to square dance;
• Mr. Wang, a 45-year-old gastric cancer patient, experienced postoperative recurrence and ascites. After immune activation through TTV therapy, his ascites subsided, and he recently accompanied his daughter to take the college entrance examination.
"I used to think cancer was a terminal illness, until I saw Professor Xu's video," a patient's family member wrote on Douyin, along with a photo of their father eating a full bowl of rice for the first time after treatment. Professor Xu liked this message and replied, "Every life is worth fighting for."
05 A message to patients: Hope is always around the corner
Facing the camera, 82-year-old Professor Xu Kecheng always repeats this: "Cancer is a chronic disease, not a terminal illness." Today, TTV therapy has opened a new avenue for patients with advanced disease.
If you or a family member is suffering from cancer, remember: medical progress never stops. As Professor Xu said in his TikTok video: "As long as you don't give up, your immune system may work miracles."
It is worth mentioning that Hainan's Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, a "testing ground" for my country's medical development, has already adopted this new technology. In May 2025, leveraging the Lecheng Pilot Zone's "Special Medical Care" policy and "First-to-Trial" program, TTV therapy officially entered the clinical validation phase with the unveiling of the Center for Precision Oncology Medicine. A team led by Professor Xu Kecheng and Academician Wang Zhenyi is leveraging this platform to advance multicenter research, which will benefit even more patients in the future.
